[attr="class","trans1"] [attr="class","trans2"] [attr="class","trans3"] The first thing to hit you as you wander into the marketplace are the vibrant colours and smells of every kind imaginable. Stalls decorated in patterned cloths of beautiful colours are lined up in long isles, selling everything ranging from armour and clothing to spices and delicious-looking Rohirrim delicacies.
As you walk past, Merchants try to catch your eye by calling out their very best deals and displaying their finest merchandise proudly for all to see.
However keep an eye out that someone doesn't come along and take your coin bag, it's a busy place and very easy for a thief to slip away with your valuables if you don't pay close attention.

Stalls

Post by Cór on Feb 8, 2015 23:52:07 GMT
Cór sat at the stall that their family had bought to sell their crops and several other items such as milk, yarn and cheese. It wasn't the most exciting of stalls, but with current rates, it appeared as though they would likely make a profit from this by the end of the day. Which would be hugely beneficial for the family of Rohirrim farmers. Though he had to admit that even if they did not make as much money back from selling their produce, at least it was a great day out for the young'uns.
They took it in turns and for the moment Cora had taken several of them to explore and that left Cór, Connor, Moreen and Harper in charge of the stall for the time being. Lyra was to join them later at the tourney- though Cór had not been given any specific time regarding when that might be.
He kept half an eye on Moreen and Heath, who were both occupying themselves with making a broth which they could then serve at lunch hours (and fill up on as well). Connor meanwhile stood at the front of the stall to advertise their goods and also to keep an eye out for potential thieves (not that Cór suspected that many people would be keen on stealing a heap of potatoes and other crops when around them were plenty of rich and valuable items, but it didn't hurt to be cautious).
The day was only just beginning but with the sun shining brightly down on them, Cór was hopeful that when the tourney events came up that the weather would persist. He was certain today would be an exciting day to say the very least.

Stalls

Post by Brenna on Feb 13, 2015 22:11:23 GMT
Brenna had been busy since dawn. She’d woken early to help her aunt and uncle set up their stall with tricks and trinkets Brenna had brought over from the Shire and had spent a good part of her morning advising them on prices. It was a fair bet to say the things would be snapped up quickly, they were well made and pretty to look at (not that Brenna saw much point in that but other people seemed to like it) and, what with the Shire-folk being so happy to stay where they were, Shire-made things were a rarity at Tourney’s. Needless to say they tended to draw a crowd. As soon as the stall had been set up Brenna had left, better to leave by her own choice than be asked to leave later on. It was a business decision more than anything else; Brenna may have had the ability to draw crowds when she’d been young and pretty (much like a particularly nice piece of meat tended to draw crowds at the butcher’s) but that ability had gone along with her looks and her smile. Now she just tended to put respectable people off coming anywhere near the stall. Secretly though, Brenna had another reason to leave. The uneasy silence that fell whenever she came near a group of her family members grated on her nerves like a knife against stone and she was a few seconds away from snapping. Once she’d excused herself from her aunt and uncle (promising to meet with them later to watch her cousins compete like the good little niece she was), Brenna decided to go and explore the tourney grounds to eye up any new opportunities for trade. With an already full money poach jingling at her hip making new friends would be easy. But first, she needed something to eat. Brenna looked around, trying to find a stall that had what she wanted. There seemed to be an abundance of stalls selling all sorts of food but none of them appealed to her. Brenna could have treated herself to one of the rich smelling stews on offer but, after eating salted meat and stale bread for so long, her stomach wouldn’t be used to such a fine fair. Brenna liked to keep her food in her stomach. Finally she spotted something. It had a rather small and strange collection of things on display (yarn, cheese, rolls of bread) and Brenna had a feeling the only reason the stall was making any money was because people had a habit of buying unnecessary things in the heat of a celebration. But, lucky for them, a round of cheese and some bread was exactly what Brenna was looking for. Adjusting her scarf she made her way over to the stall.
I added in the bread because I thought Cora would probably make some for the Tourney. Hope that’s okay
